Bit by bit, the HTC One M10 is coming together, and today there are two more of pieces of the puzzle.

For starters, the name One M10 has been confirmed, unofficially of course, sending HTC’s flagship line into double digits. The name was dug up in the drop-down list of devices in an HTC online survey form.

Moving on, we get a camera sample to try and judge just how compelling the shooter is. It’s a single shot, and a dirty keyboard isn’t the most exciting subject matter, but it does seem to resolve plenty of detail in the letter markings and grime between the keys.

That is, where it’s properly focused, because the wide f/1.9 aperture and near subject make for a pretty shallow depth of field. We do say “wide” and while it is an definitive improvement over the f/2.2 glass of the One M9, HTC is still playing catch-up with main rivals – the LG G5 has an f/1.8 aperture, while the Samsung Galaxy S7 is even brighter at f/1.7.

It is on par with Samsung’s offering in focal length though, with a generously wide 26mm equivalent, but in this respect you can’t really compete with the G5 and the super-wide half of its dual-camera setup.

The image is shot in 16:9 aspect and has a resolution of 2,250 x 4,000px. In 4:3 aspect it would make for a 3,000 x 4,000px 12MP image, right in line with previous rumors.

For all we know, the HTC One M10 will be announced on April 11, and while all of the above looks believable, we’d hold off on buying decisions until it’s official.

  1. Romanus98, 16 hours agoI agree with you, A9 is beautiful device with cool camera :-)Yup agree…
My xperia t3 sample is more better than this
They just want to defame HTC by these unreal rumors

  2. Before making final version out HTC must compare camera samples with S6, if samples dont look better then it would be a failure(“M10 most compelling camera”), btw this sample is not better than S6 at all. S6 captures more details with clarity and better colors.

  3. ABADDON, 18 hours agooh c’mon HTC! Just shut down your company! you just making us fool by acting as you are superi… moreGet lost. Don’t try for further comments in this site. I tell you it is not the sample image of M10. It’s a common sense, this sample image capture by a mid range camera. Even HTC one X9’s images is better than this. So, it’s a simple math, this image not capture by m10.

  5. The truth is competitors are scared shitless about M10. So they send their lifeless comment boys to do their dirty job by writing this craps.i wonder how much they get.

  6. I don’t understand why people try to tear HTC down… If you don’t like their phones or products, don’t buy them.. But, don’t put your bias opinion in people’s heads before they even go out and try the phone. A big reason for HTC’s poor sales has to do with the fact that these bias journalists who just blow things out of proportion… (cough cough m9 overheating issues) I use the shit out of my m9 and never had any overheating issues..

  7. I like htc phones. Currently own m7 and would like to upgrade and if m10 will be at the same level as s7 or G5 with metal unibody I will buy it! If not, I will go ether G5 or X performance.

  8. the keyboard means the technology used by htc’s company

  9. Every company has their cons and pros, htc have build quality, sound, and sense, and that is their best and in that they are and will be number 1, if they make great camera and battery, they will be number 1 in everything.

  10. @Team gsmarena:

Again this WRONG information about the DOF. Right, larger aperture, more background blurr. BUTT, its the total aperture size, not the relative. Ever wondered, why a DSLR camera with F4.0 has a lot more background blurr than a smartphone with F1.8? Exactly, because the aperture in smartphones is in relation to the sensor size. On a full frame DSLR it would be around F12 and that’s the DOF you get.
Comparing the galaxy s6 with a 1/2.5 sensor with F1.7 aperture and the one m10 with F1.9 at a 1/2.3 Sensor, we can calculate, that both phones have around the same size of the aperture because it is indirect proportionally to the sensor size.
So whoever writes this articles, please do some research on how a camera works.

  14. person guy, 14 hours agoI don’t understand why people try to tear HTC down… If you don’t like their phones or produc… morethank god somebody has some common sense :) thank you for that…few of my comments have been deleted when I spoke openly about crushing HTC through media, especially one article on gsmarena that wrote about the last render published on HTCs official Twitter account…HTC has some really good phone, quality ones, durable and good looking…people complain about short battery life on HTCs flagships, but never say anything against other phones from Samsung and LG (I won’t mention Apple, because apparently it so good that it is untouchable, selling midrange phones for the higher prices every year just because it has an bitten apple glowing logo on the back)
One x9 and A9 are excellent phones (A9 with a bit too high price though, 380$ would be decent price for that kind of phone)…mark my words, M10 will be a beast…

  15. No more boomsound, no stereo sound

Htc is going down by itself

If somebody want camera buy a Samsung S, if they want software they buy Apple, if the customers want sound they buy HTC for boomsound… but wait HTC is no more boomsound … so…. HTC is dead or zombi

I am so enjoying my A9 as I did with the One S awhile ago.

That I is a intelligent and worthwhile comment. tired of all the negative people trying to push marketing agendas. Sometimes I think G S .. have shares in Samsung for the almost daily publicity and lift they give a particular brand

  19. Romanus98, 16 hours agoI agree with you, A9 is beautiful device with cool camera :-)so right. the A9 has to be the most beautiful phone out there. I looked for 3 months before upgrading and when this beauty came with its smooth edges, snappy marshmallow it was a buy. The camera is great, battery is good in reality. Yes yes. I brought 3 from the usa as Australia has been denied these units for now
