According to the latest report from Net Market Share, Microsoft’s Windows 10 is continuing its upward spiral in terms of how many PCs it powers. This version now sits at 12.82% of the market for desktop operating systems, as you can see from the pie chart below.

Windows 10 claimed 11.85% of that market back in January, so it looks like more and more people and businesses are adopting it. However, its growth is slowing down, so it’s unclear what the future will hold.

The world’s most used desktop OS is still Windows 7, now down to 52.34% of the market (it was at 52.47% in January). It’s followed by Windows 10, and then XP comes in at 11.24%. Windows 8.1 has grabbed a 9.83% market share, with Mac OS X 10.11 boasting 3.72%, Windows 8 at 2.43%, and Mac Os X 10.10 at 2.2%. Every other desktop OS is in the “Others” category, which makes up 5.42% of the pie. In that, Linux apparently represents 1.78%.

“Like a gaming console running same OS”.

PC is not a console. Period.
PC is diverse, you can’t treat PC as console, because it will require an OS that only target lowest common denominator, just like UWP currently is.

There should be ‘Uninstall Windows 10′ button next to ‘Start’.

  3. What this article is about?
You just try to confuse the ppl’s opinion about Windows 10. Making article about ‘desktop market’ . LOL
Why didn’t mention that this article didn’t count the laptops, ultrabooks, ultrabook hybrids, Windows 10 tablets and such???

  4. Anonymous, 16 hours agoWindows 10 is the worst Windows version ever. The only reason why it’s market share is increas… morealthough they try to make as much as people as possible adopt windows 10. you must know that windows 10 is the most technologically advanced and efficient OS in the history of any multi hardware OS’s. it simply has the best upgrade-ability, stability and security compared to any of its competition.

  5. Microsoft should take a hint on why windows 7 still has the highest market share. Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 all suck.

  6. If (or rather when) Google goes desktop or we have a good linux based gui Microsoft will be completely erased. There is way too much hate against Microsoft for various reasons for it to survive competition.

  7. Please guyzz Don’t post which u don’t know !

I am windows 10 user, i has used win 7, 8,8.1 and now WINDOWS 10

AND I THINK WINDOWS 10 IS PREETY COOL SMART FAST AND AWESOME :)

Yeah i agree that who upgraded from win 7 they are facing some bugs, but this will fix soon :)

But who is win 8,8.1 user using windows 10 they must be happy i think :)

Windows 10 is best, use it than post your suggestion :)

  8. I just couldn’t get used to Windows 10. Some of the things made sense but on the whole it was just terrible. It’s like a duck. Seamless on water but awkward on land. On a touch display it makes sense but on a desktop it’s like a duck trying to walk.

  9. Windows 10 is the worst OS I have ever used! The worst problem is that I can not turn of automatic updates, so now it waste my bandwidth slowing down my data connection and if/when I want to restart the laptop it sometimes want to install a complete new version of Windows 10, many Gb data, making the 30 second restart take more than 2 hours! I did not like Windows 8.1 but on that every problem could be fixed by installing the free “Classic shell”!

I am windows 10 user, i has used win 7, 8,8.1 … more”Some bugs”, unable to use my graphics card because ATI do not exist anymore and AMD do not bother updating “older” graphicscards from ATI and updates from Microsoft will not be able to fix the problem, so no one should “upgrade” from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and those on Windows 8.1 should install the free “Classic shell” instead of risk doing the “upgrade” to Windows 10!
I wish I could install Windows 8.1, plus “Classic shell”, on my new laptop that came with Windows 10 preinstalled!

I am windows 10 user, i has used win 7, 8,8.1 … morein home I have windows 7. In my school computers are win 10. And I can give you my opinion:
Windows 10 has nice UI and just can’t compare to windows 7. BUT the experience is a bit weird for me, it feels like you are using mobile OS. Just like remix OS aka android OS on a desktop PC. But that’s just my opinion. I don’t like experience mobile is on desktop PC… makes no sense since you can use your phone instead.

  15. mir, 12 hours agoMicrosoft should take a hint on why windows 7 still has the highest market share. Windows 8, 8… more7 has more marketshare because it is older, can you bet after 7 year win 7 will have more marketshare than 10?

  16. i have used windows 98.xp,vista,7,8,8.1 and windows 10.in terms of experience i like windows 10 most ,win 7 comes second(i liked win 7 most before the release of win 10).
