Samsung dragged to court over exploding Galaxy phone, and no it’s not Note7

As if the exploding Galaxy Note 7 fiasco was not enough, Samsung is facing another embarrassing situation: a Galaxy S7 edge unit caught fire in the owner’s pocket, “causing him second and third degree burns.”

Samsung dragged to court over exploding Galaxy phone, and no its not Note7

The incident happened when owner Daniel Ramirez was working at a construction site in Ohio. Reports say the phone was in his right front pocket when suddenly it started “whistling, screeching, and vibrating,” and emitting smoke. When Ramirez tried to remove the handset from his pocket, he suffered burns to his right hand.

And then the unit exploded without any warning, catching fire in the pocket itself and causing severe burns to Ramirez – his boxer shots and pants melted to his leg. “He suffered severe and permanent burn injuries to his groin, legs, and lower back that required a significant skin graft surgery and will necessitate extensive physical therapy moving forward.”

It’s worth mentioning that the incident took place on May 30 this year (even before the Galaxy Note7 was made official), but has just come to light.

It’s not yet clear whether or not the Galaxy S7 edge batteries were also manufactured by Samsung SDI, the company that supplied defective Galaxy Note7 batteries. Anyway, Samsung has been dragged to court over the incident – a product liability lawsuit has been filed against the South Korean company.

  1. Grey1213, 3 hours agoLol. Batteries are outsourced. Just because you don’t buy Samsung it doesn’t mean you’re not u… moreAn outsourced sealed battery. A perfect combination.

  2. Ok this is getting ridiculous. A month ago nobody had a problem with Samsung and after the recall SUDDENLY out of nowhere everyones Samsung explodes! The defect battery is only in a few units of Note 7! People are not stupid you know. Batteries where exploding before this and on all phones not just Sammsung. It’s normal for every manufacturer to get a few faulty products that’s why there are warranties and returns and so on.

  3. The Cheapest material for the highest prices, samsung the name which will burn you.

  4. I don’t believe this, Samsung is like a scape goat now, people are stabbing at it ever since the note7 battery exploding issue. I am still a loyal Samsung fan even if this Note5 I’m typing on explodes right now😄.

  5. Samsung sheep are incredible. Bleating that this is a “fake” story. Yeah, go ask the man whether his burns are “fake”. Smh.

  6. HAHA!! Samsung moving towards his end.

This brand is going to be dead soon.
New Innovations without research, leads the mobile to convert itself into a “Hand Grenade”.

Is this the reason why APPLE takes years to bring new innovations with safer units.?
because they have proper research team?
are they using the best available products for the phone they launch every year?

Samsung is launching phone every 3 months breaking his own valuation for phone. same configuration is available in higher as well as lower cost in the duration of 3 months. Till today the phone “Lagging” is following us like the PUG from Vodafone, phone is not stable till today. I bought S7 with a hope that it does’nt heats up, I with crores of people again got fooled.

    Sorry Samsung.

  7. Casedy , 1 hour agoAn outsourced sealed battery. A perfect combination.Yes, if it weren’t for outsourced batteries the whole Note 7 would never have happened. Oh wait… is SAMSUNG SDI an outsource company to Samsung?

Manufacturing issues like this can happen to any brand. It’s just Samsung’s time, deal with it!

  10. Fakest news of the month. This stuff from May why only mentioned it now. And dont tell me S7 batteries need replacement too. So, every exploding ohine from Samsung from now on will require global replacement?? Oh wait, an S5 explode; global recall. An S4 explode; global recall. Is that what people wants? Then dont only point finger at Samsung. Im pretty sure iphone explode at least once before, i dont see Apple recall that one. Where the rest of other brands that had exploded before? Lets all open up old stories and lets all get our replacements.

New Innovation… moreNo, because Apple has suffered similar defects with their phones. e.g. Bendgate, antenna not working.

  14. Im sure soon there will be reports saying that a man died cause a galaxy Y

  15. Anonymous, 1 hour agoSamsung sheep are incredible. Bleating that this is a “fake” story. Yeah, go ask the man wheth… moreI don’t believe his burns are fake. I believe the pone exploded. But I also believe that when Samsung look in to this, they will find it is the phone that is fake. There are loads of them out there, normally purchased online from China. They ship all over the world.
