Reliance Jio extends free 4G data till March 2017

Indian carrier Reliance Jio has announced that it will be extending its free 4G data and Jio services offer till March 2017. Reliance is calling this the Jio Happy New Year Offer, under which all existing as well as new customers will be eligible for free data until this period.

The important thing to note here is that while until now the free data limit per day was 4GB, it will be reduced to 1GB under the new offer. Post 1GB, the download speed will be capped to 128kbps. Reliance claims that 80% of its customers use less than 1GB per day and by reducing the limit all users get fair share of network capacity.

Reliance announced the free data and Jio services offer for customers back in September, where the offer was valid until December 31, after which the tariff plans would come into effect but the Jio Happy New Year Offer, which comes into effect on December 4, will extend the free data offer by another three months. Voice calls, as before, will always be free.

Reliance Jio currently has over 52 million users, with 50 million being added in 83 days. Reliance also plans on deploying JioMoney Merchant Solutions in the coming months to increase adoption of cashless payment system among customers and merchants.

  1. wow it is very great for digital india,it is verry good for all indians…

  2. Jio 4G giving 0.20Mbps speed most of the time in band 850 mhz. Such pathetic speed. Better they rename this company to Jio 2G.

  3. Am facing lot of network bandwidth issue please increase speed in my area .

  4. Even though JIO is free of cost till March, there is no much coverage in many areas.
Speed is fluctuating in such a way that sometimes, it will drop down to less than 1Mbps.
JIO need to improve a lot, if they want to retain their customers, else JIO will lose many of it’s valuable customers

  5. What ever speed it is………they are escaping me from “irritating”mobile data recharge money…………..u give what ever speed thatz ok for me hahaha……..

  6. Browndynamite.., 4 hours agoWhen I was at my University, speeds most of the time was below 100kbps . It’s fast only during… moreI’m getting worse speed than you. 0.20 Mbps most of the time, the speeds increase to 1.20 Mbps after 1 AM in the midnight that’s all even after having full coverage in my area. Jio 4G has nothing 4G in it and is a definition of 2G network.

  7. krish, 5 hours agowow,
    good news
    jio rocks
others operator socks !! ;)i like it

  8. Some of the people here have the guts to complaint so much when they’re getting it for free. Talk about ungratefulness.

  9. It’s a very good news for us n all user but we are not getting speed of 4G . Please try to improve speed

  10. Stopped using this filthy network long back, just waiting for their wired fibre broadband plans.

  11. [deleted post]Yeah. Then why do u bother posting here. If you dont want anything for free just dont buy it. And if you are not buying it then why would you complain?

  12. People who wanna cry about the speeds do a thing. Just stick with your old sim. Never bother buying a jio sim. There are many people like me who appreciates what jio is offering. A 4gb daily free pack for 3 months (ie total of 360gb) even at speed of 100kb/s is awesome.( i get around 500kb/s)

  13. Tiktak, 2 hours agoPeople who wanna cry about the speeds do a thing. Just stick with your old sim. Never bother b… moreU call that 4g? Even my BSNL SIM can offer me 8+mbps. If you are giving something free make it useful. Giving free internet and slowing down it’s speed what nonsense? Don’t try to defend jio.

  14. Shutup, 1 hour agoU call that 4g? Even my BSNL SIM can offer me 8+mbps. If you are giving something free make it… moreTruly said bro. Bsnl is rocking these days but let’s see for how many days it remains so.

  15. Guys,
Why fight! when you can get any internet for free. At least, it is helping a bit to curb the damage of liquid cash forced by the government. Enjoy the service as I am. Free till the time you can and use lot of other apps to pay your hard earned money.
Chill guys. Let it be Jio of Vodafone 4G sim distribution (free internet by Voda) will not last for ever. Cool.
