OnePlus 5 gets EIS for 4K videos in latest update

A month ago, OnePlus promised to enable EIS for 4K video recording on the OnePlus 5 and here it is OxygenOS 4.5.7 brings the additional stabilization, along with some other changes.

EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) works in conjunction with OIS (a hardware stabilization) for an even smoother footage. Still, it requires a lot of computing power, which is why many phones put an upper limit of 1080p/30fps. The Snapdragon 835 has enough grunt to pull it off, though.

The rest of the changelog includes Wi-Fi connectivity improvements (again) and standby battery enhancements (it doesn’t say if Energy Aware Scheduling is enabled). There’s also a new font (OnePlus Slate), Android Security Patch July 1st 2017 and a newer Google Mobile Services package.

There are bugfixes as well:

Fixed occasional sound leaks in the speakers when using earphonesFixed camera shutter sound bug in silent mode for Indian regionFixed missing sound channels when recording videos

Note that this update is being distributed incrementally over the air. Today, only a lucky few will get it, but the rollout will pick up speed in the next few days.

  3. Five Star, 12 hours agoThe OnePlus 5 is the worst OnePlus device imo. Too many problems!!if you didn’t buy it and got a problem with it then don’t say it got so many problems … i have it since two months don’t have “jelly effect” battery is awesome got 7 hours screen on time consistently during these two months that while i installed Always on app “Always on like Galaxy S8″ no wifi problem, bluetooth Aptex HD is awesome and the phone is F#&%ing fast … people do get problems with it but only small percentage of them it’s awesome phone for it’s price

  4. Switched to this from the s7 edge just to try out a non-Samsung phone. And quite happy with it except for the camera, which probably the s7 has a slight ‘edge’. Other than that, this phone beats the s7 hands down – in speed, response time, customisation features, battery charging and discharging time. That’s good enough for me to stick with it for now.

  5. Five Star, 12 hours agoThe OnePlus 5 is the worst OnePlus device imo. Too many problems!!OP3T is best one, and without wrong put screen. I had OP5 for while, but caused me vomiting effect so had return it.

I don’t understand the hate when they don’t even plan to own one.
Cyanogen OS (or now called Oxygen OS) is still the current top Android UI and the most stable out there with support from the android community.
